C.L. Elementary

Haven't had one of these tags in a long time.

I would LOVE to have a model skeleton in my room.

The classrooms are newly remodeled.

It's nice to see solid classroom furniture. Although this room was still in a portable.

It's pretty typical that music, science, and art gets shoved all higgledy-piggledy together in the same room like this. Sad, but better than nothing. Although that in itself is a pretty sad sentence too.

V.V. Elementary

I only have two photos for this school. Each time I went here, I was too busy doing stuff, or thinking about things other than the blog. It also happened that this school was the first one I taught at after The Great Disaster That Was Phase 3 Spring 2009. Yeah, many things other than the blog were on my mind.

But I like this school, and not only because the initials make an intense face with a V-for-victory. It's a relatively more parent-involved school, yet the students definitely need a firm hand with discipline too. Well, all students need that. I suppose their acclimation to discipline is what varies.

Boondocks school

I taught a grand total of two art classes here very early in the summer.

WAY out in a rural farm area.

It's a decent school, facilities wise. I'm not too fond of the memory of having to search for half an hour before I found any one who knew where the art classroom was. It was hot that day too, and I had to drag that heavy supplies cart around.

CSUS

A decree from the almighty CTC.

There's something to be said about a campus that has more green than grey (as in buildings).

This is where I spend most of my time on campus. Well, this and the library.

Twisty.

J. S. Elementary

Wow, there are a few really bad phone cam shots here. But I was in a rush that day and couldn't stop to take a better picture.

The sign on the door has some sort of moral-boosting saying like, "We will achieve our goals!" or something of the sort. That hallway has these signs posted every five yards or so all down the length on both sides. It is slightly creepy and encouraging at the same time.

SJDC

I started coming here for enrichment classes in the 4th grade. And no, it is not uncommon - at least with the people I circulated amongst - for elementary school kids to attend junior college classes. This is also the location of this year's highest API ranked school in San Joaquin County. It is necessary to note that the highest API ranked school does not equal the "best" school, whatever that means. Individualized education that fits your student is a better choice, in my opinion, and Middle College is definitely not for everyone. Which is not a bad thing to say.

I also play tennis here three times a week, which explains two of the above photos.

Only in So. Cal.

This is the most High School Musical high school I have ever seen. The campus in HUGE, close to the size of my local JC. I only saw a fraction of it. Wow.

UC San Diego

Finally got to visit my second choice school. For the record, I didn't end at at my first, second, or third choice schools. The first and second because my parents wouldn't let me. The third because I didn't get accepted.

I'm glad I went to the place I did, so I guess it doesn't matter.

B.E. Elementary

I taught two back-to-back art sessions of 4 weeks each here. My group at this school is one of the best I've ever had - in terms of behavior as well as talent.

SMBS

Lines and lines of students.

The office.

At recess.

See what I mean about the lines?

Sunrise.

There were many delightful things about teaching English in China. There were also some not so delightful things. Which is probably what you get teaching anything, anywhere.
